Local Call: FCC’s New Wireless Policy Will Create New Sponsorship Opportunities for Teams

Last week, the telecommunications industry faced a myriad of changes to their business from a policy implemented by the Federal Communications Commission. Line Number Portability (LNP) gives consumers the right to switch wireless phone carriers without risking losing their phone number.

Wireless phone companies are already attacking each other with advertising and marketing blitzes as they brace to react to LNP.

“Expect advertising and overall competition to get even more vicious,” said Patrick Comack, an analyst for Guzman & Co. “2004 will be an all out marketing war.”
