Do Not Call Registry: Impact on Ticket Sales

The most obvious area that the Do Not Call Registry threatens to impact a team’s business is in its ticketing department and as one executive says, it will be for the better.

“The days of just dumping a telephone book on someone’s lap are over and we are all going to better salesmen as a result,” said Mike Stanfield, Director of Ticket Sales and Services for the New Orleans Saints.

Do Not Call Registry: Impact on Sports Sponsorship

The Direct Marketing Association estimates that the Registry will eliminate $100 billion in annual sales from its more than 4,700 members who utilize telemarketing to make hundreds of millions of calls annually to drum up sales.

Since the Registry was announced earlier this year on June 27, leading telemarketing companies have been forced to re-think their marketing strategy and the prospect to reach customers through alternate sales channels like a sponsorship with a sports team.
