Draft Day Activations
By: Matt Puttin

Draft Day represents one of the biggest days across any sports league and sports organization. The day provides a thrill not only to the athlete being drafted but also for the organization that gains the player’s talent and service to the community. With the NBA Draft happening tonight, below are some of the best Draft Day activations within professional leagues and teams.

1. NFL’s Draft Town:
A 900,000 square foot celebration was hosted in the middle of downtown Chicago in Grant Park and Congress Plaza for the 2016 NFL Draft Weekend. The event was free and family friendly featuring participatory games, youth football clinics, merchandise from NFL Shop, free autograph sessions from NFL players, replica locker rooms, a “taste of the town” tailgate and more!

2. NBA Draft Parties:
Offseason draft parties allow teams to reengage with fans in a different way than a typical game day experience. While continuing to carry over fans from previous seasons, events like these can help grow a fan base. See what the Philadelphia 76er’s are doing at their draft party tonight:

• 2016 Philadelphia 76er’s Draft Party: Set to be the largest outdoor draft party in Philadelphia history as the 76er’s select the first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Fans will be able to watch the draft on 30-foot high definition displays. Free food and beverage will be provided and fans will be able to meet 76er’s legends. Fans will also receive a complimentary draft party t-shirt upon arrival.

3. NHL Draft Fan Fest:
The Buffalo Sabres are hosting the 2016 NHL Draft on Friday, June 24 and plan to host a Draft Fan Fest at Canalside during the first round of the NHL Draft. The event is free to the public and will include a viewing party on two large video screens. The Fan Fest will feature giveaways, interactive games, live music, a kid zone and appearances from Sabres players and alumni. Coors Light, official sponsor of the National Hockey League, will also be partnering with Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Metro and the Buffalo Sabres to provide fans with free and safe transportation to the NHL Draft.

4. MLB Draft Day Memories:
What is it like to get drafted? How high are the nerves? What is the feeling like when your name is called? Hear from professional baseball players in the Diamondbacks and Dodgers organization:
